Day 273 (01 Oct 2023) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
DAY 273 (01 OCT 2023) – In the evening, Mr Kartik and I headed to the city to explore Milwaukee.
We visited the Harley-Davidson Museum and show room. However, we couldn’t go inside since it had closed at 5 pm.
2023 marks 120 years of this legendary motorcycle company which was founded in 1903 by William Harley and Arthur Davidson. The first Harley-Davidson factory was a backyard shed behind the Davidson family home.
The company headquarters stands today at the same location where the shed once stood. There is a 1903 replica of the 10x15ft shed on display at the museum.
Located near the Harley Davidson Museum is the Great Lakes Distillery.
We decided to go for a distillery tour at this place founded in 2004, also known as Wisconsin’s original small-batch distillery.
Although I am a teetotaller, I enjoyed the informative tour of the distillery and learning about the grain-to-glass distillation process where they use a lot of local ingredients to make original local craft spirits.
