Day 230 - Two-Wheeled Adventures: An Enjoyable Bike Trip in Bristol with Fellow Bikers

Updated: Aug 26, 2023

Day 230 (19 Aug 2023) - Bristol, England

DAY 230 (19 AUG 2023) – In the morning, Abhi and his wife prepared some tasty “Upma” for breakfast. It has been a long time since I had this healthy dish. “Upma” originates from the Indian subcontinent, cooked as a thick porridge from dry-roasted semolina or coarse rice flour.

Abhi and I then headed to a Kawasaki motorbike shop to test ride a new motorbike, the Kawasaki Z900. He is currently riding the KTM 1290GT motorbike.

We were joined by 3 other biker friends, Mr Guru from Karnataka, Mr Pramod and Mr Johnson, who are both from Kerala. They are all working and staying in the UK.

Later, the 5 of us rode our individual bikes and visited several places in Bristol. I got to see the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol’s iconic structure built in the 19th century.

This engineering masterpiece is made up of 3, 500 loads of bearing bolts and giant chains stretching 20 miles (32 kilometres) underground. The bridge’s total span is 702 feet (214 metres) and sits majestically above high water at 245 feet (74 metres).

We also passed by Abhi’s workplace, the Airbus building. Airbus is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of airliners and helicopters. We then visited the SportsBikeShop, a retail store specialising in motorcycle parts and accessories. Of course, the prices here were much cheaper than back home. I bought a new motorbike cover for ‘Parameswara’.
