Day 228 (17 Aug 2023) - Brussels, Belgium
DAY 228 (17 AUG 2023) – After arriving at my hostel in Brussels, Belgium, I decided to explore the city together with my hostel mate, Julian who was from Mexico. We walked for about 30 minutes from our hostel to the city.
It was a long walk, but it was worth it. Brussels is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
There were so many historical and architectural landmarks, some of which are known as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Among the famous landmarks I got to see are the Brussels City Museum, and the Grand-Place of Brussels, known as one of the most beautiful squares in the world.
Brussels is also known as the capital of the European Union since it is located halfway between France and Germany. The rivalry between these 2 countries played a role in starting the 2 World Wars, and whose reconciliation paved the way for European integration.
At some point, I met a wonderful family from Chennai. We greeted each other in our mother tongue and had a friendly chat.
