Day 174 (24 June 2023) - Yekaterinburg, Russia
DAY 174 (24 JUNE 2023) – Today, I left Yekaterinburg for a 6 hour (370 km) journey to Perm.
Before leaving, I had breakfast with Max and his family.
We then headed to the Europe-Asia marker, one of the few markers installed which signifies the European and Asian Border.
It was not a real border crossing but a symbolic place that is also a tourist attraction. I took a photo with one foot in Europe and another in Asia, which is apparently a popular photo pose among tourists.
I thanked Maxim and his family for their kindness and gracious hospitality before leaving for Perm. At this point, I had crossed the symbolic Europe-Asia border where my journey continues in European Russia and several other countries in the European continent!
Fun fact: Since Russia spans across the Asian and European continent, the Ural Mountains are considered the separation boundary of the two continents. Yekaterinburg is the city located right on the border at the slope of the Ural Mountains.
