Day 173 (23 June 2023) - Yekaterinburg, Russia
DAY 173 (23 JUNE 2023) – I booked my stay at Sky Hostel for 2 nights to get my motorbike serviced. Max, who stays nearby the hostel guided me to the BMW Service Centre.
The last servicing was done at Vladivostok about a month ago and my motorbike has already reached the 10,300 km mileage.
During maintenance, they found the air filter compartment to be full of sand due to the sandstorm in Mongolia the week before. The total servicing cost came to R 20,000 (RM 1,105).
Max invited me to his apartment where I met his wife, Anastasia and his 7 year old daughter, Eiva. He works as an engineer at a security company and Anastasia works at a bank.
Much like many homes I’ve come across in Russia, Maxim too has a few heating radiators in the kitchen and several rooms. Russia runs government heating plants that pump steam to radiators in every apartment, workplace and school. This is unlike the West, where people buy their own furnaces for central heating.
