Day 163 - Byartai (Goodbye) & Thank You: Mongolia, Land of the Horse & The Eternal Blue Sky

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

Day 163 (13 June 2023) - A summary of my beautiful experiences in Mongolia

DAY 163 (13 JUNE 2023) – Reflecting on my experiences in Mongolia, I have spent 7 wonderful days and covered a total of 2,336 kilometres on my riding journey in this beautiful country known as the "Land of the Eternal Blue Sky" and the "Land of the Horse".

Mongolia is a large and sparsely populated, landlocked country in eastern Asia, south of Russia, north of China, and east of Kazakhstan. The area of what is now Mongolia has been ruled by various nomadic empires for centuries. In 1206, Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire, and his grandson Kublai Khan conquered China to establish the Yuan dynasty.

In this short journey, I got to see one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, and amazing wildlife, such as the Mongolian wild horses and camels. I immersed myself in Mongolian history and culture, and experienced a sandstorm for the first time in my life. I also came across many friendly Mongolians along the way. I got along well with them despite our language barrier. Of course, an online translator is always useful!

As I leave Mongolia with amazing memories, I will never forget the kindness and generosity of strangers in my time of need, be it Mr Agi, or the strangers, who guided me through a sandstorm and when I was lost on the road.

Now, I head back to Russia to complete the rest of my journey in this amazing country full of pleasant surprises!
