Day 114 (25 Apr 2023) - Hakodate, Japan
DAY 114 (25 APR 2023) – Today I visited the Goryokaku Park at Hakodate, about 2.5 km from my hostel.
I arrived at Hakodate yesterday, just in time to see the amazing cherry blossoms (Sakura) that often bloom this time of the year.
The Goryokaku Park is the site of Goryokaku Fort, which was completed in 1866 to protect against possible Russian invasion during that period. It was also a site of a battle between the Republic and Empire of Japan during that time!
I also climbed the Goryokaku Tower, which is about 107 meters high. The entrance fee was 1000 yen (RM 33). I got a good view of the city and its surroundings, including the mountains in the distance.
I spent about 3 hours just enjoying the scenery at this beautiful park!
