Day 055 - Nurturing Nature: We Planted an Acacia Tree in Timor-Leste

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

Day 055 (25 Feb 2023) - Hera, Dili, Timor-Leste

DAY 055 (25 FEB 2023) – I spent my last day at Timor-Leste participating in a tree planting activity, organised by Emmanuel Residences. The purpose of the event was to promote the importance of saving nature and what better way is there than planting more trees!

In the morning, we left to a beautiful hillside place called Hera, not far away from Dili. We chose a nice spot near a residential area, to plant 3 acacia trees. The acacia tree takes about 3 to 4 years to grow into a huge tree. Between the months of September and December, the flowers on this tree will blossom with a combination of red, orange and yellow.

The first tree was planted by Mrs. Filomena Pinto and myself. The second tree was planted by Mr. Antonio Milena and his wife, while the 3rd tree was planted by Mr Alex and Boy Sabak.

Later in the evening, we all gathered for tea at Emmanuel Residence. I was also interviewed by a tv crew from RTTLEP TV, which is the national radio and television broadcaster in Timor-Leste.
