Day 017 - Challenging Conditions: Riding eight hours through rain, floods and terrible traffic

Day 017 (18 Jan 2023) - Semarang to Surabaya, Indonesia

DAY 017 (18 JAN 2023) – Left Semarang for an 8 hour journey to Surabaya. On the way, stopped by at Blora. Met 2 local bikers Willy Kusama and Davi Ilham. They rode on their bikes and followed me for about 5 km, before we stopped at a stall for a cup of tea and some chit chat.

I continued my journey, and was in for a shock when I reached Surabaya. It was raining heavily and flooded! There was a terrible traffic jam as many motorists were stuck in the floods. I rode my bike slowly for another 3 hours before finally reaching my hotel.

At the hotel, I met my friend Imam. I have known him for the last 2 years and we have communicated regularly. He treated me to dinner. He is helping me find info about travelling from Surabaya to other islands.
